The role of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) is to address health and safety concerns in the workplace.

On September 17, 2008, the JHSC was restructured.  It is comprised of the following individuals: Rh'ena Oake (President CUPE Local 1169) (alternate), Alanna King (Vice President CUPE Local 1169), Terrill Budd (Secretary CUPE Local 1169), Nora Ott (Chief Steward CUPE Local 1169), Lisa Hardy (President MASSA), Sonja LaPointe (Labour and Employee Relations Specialist), Norma-Jean Farewell (Employee Benefits and Pensions Specialist), Steve Donnelly (Manager Facilities), Gerry Burger-Martindale (Manager Central Library), Paul Lane (Assistant Director), Susan Anderson (MASSA representative) and Jane Haney (Manager West Sector).
